Mission & Vision

Mission Statement
“As members of God’s family, our mission is to serve the Kelso-Longview community at every opportunity by studying and teaching God’s Word, by encouraging and supporting one another in living out our faith, and by ministering to those in need so that we will grow in our relationship with our Lord and new people will come to faith in Jesus Christ as Savior. This will result in our congregation growing spiritually, numerically, and financially so that through us Christ has a growing influence in, with, and over our community.”

Vision Statement
Our vision for fulfilling our mission stands on three pillars: the Great Commission, the Great Commandment, and the Great Commitment.

The Great Commandment – Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself (Matt 22:36-39, NIV)

The Great Commitment – A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. (John 13:34-35, NIV)

The Great Commission – Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age’ (Matt 28:18-20, NIV).

Ministry Focus
We believe that every part of the family has something to contribute – from the smallest child to the oldest senior. From the youth we find energy and enthusiasm for the Lord, from the aged we find wisdom and stability. We believe that to be a healthy congregation we need both ends of the spectrum. That means that we need to find ways to fellowship together, to enjoy the best of both sides and to overlook the less desirable aspects of the group not like us.

We believe God is calling us to be a place where families are strengthened in their love for one another and their love for the Lord.

We believe that God will use these stronger, more healthy families as a testimony of His power and grace to their extended families, their friends and the co-workers.

We believe that God will use our testimony to draw others into fellowship with Him through this church as they seek to establish, and re-establish healthy families.

Therefore the focus of our ministries and programs will largely be on the strengthening and building of strong families for Christ.
